Alumni Service Spotlight: Daniel Osei ’82
Daniel Osei ’82 has mentored Ridge engineering students for forty years — since before the mentoring program had a name, a budget or an office. This spring he receives the Distinguished Service Award at the Annual Meeting luncheon.
Two Hundred Mentees and Counting
Daniel keeps every thank-you note in a filing cabinet he calls “the archive.” Former mentees now run labs, firms and agencies on three continents — and many have become mentors themselves. “That is the whole trick,” he says. “The helped become the helpers.”
“Show up, tell the truth about your failures, and answer your email. Mentoring is mostly just reliability with a smile.”
Join Him at the Luncheon
Daniel accepts the award on 12 April at Founders Hall. Seats for the Annual Meeting and Luncheon are open to all alumni — and the mentoring circle always needs new volunteers.
